A Holistic Approach for Functional Vision in Denver
At NVTI, we take a non-surgical, holistic approach to treatment of your vision. Dr. Talaber treats patients with varying presentations of binocular vision dysfunction, post-traumatic concussion syndrome, and patients with reading and learning challenges that may stem from visual dysfunction. Some of the more common diagnoses and symptoms that we regularly treat include:
- Convergence Insufficiency – when the eyes have a strong tendency to turn out during reading and close work
- Eye Tracking Problems – when the eyes cannot move effortlessly, accurately, smoothly, or quickly from one target to the next
- Double Vision (Diplopia) – a common but concerning symptom of several binocular vision disorders
- Amblyopia (lazy eye) – when the vision in one or both eyes cannot be corrected to 20/20 despite wearing the correct eyeglasses or contact lenses
- Strabismus (wandering eye/eye turn/crossed eye) – a condition where eyes are not aimed at the same place at the same time
- Vertical Heterophoria (vertical misalignment posture) – a condition in which one eye aims higher than the other
- Eye Focusing Problems (accommodative disorders) – when the eyes are unable to clear targets quickly and easily or the eyes cannot maintain clarity during extended near work
- Depth Perception Problems – when the eyes cannot aim and coordinate as a team, making it difficult to judge space appropriately
- Convergence Excess – where the eyes have a strong tendency to aim inward during reading and close work
- Post Traumatic Vision Syndrome – vision disruption caused by damage to areas of the brain that are involved in various aspects of visual function
Treating the Underlying Cause, Not the Symptoms
Our goal is to always treat the underlying cause of your visual challenges, not simply just treat your symptoms. Visual dysfunctions can manifest in unique ways and Dr. Talaber will always spend the extra time needed with our patients to solidify the best course of action for long term care and improvement.
