Meet Dr. Amy Elsila, OD

Dr. Amy Elsila, O.D. is a neuro-optometrist (often called a developmental or behavioral optometrist), who brings over a decade of clinical experience and compassion to NVTI. A Florida native, she has called Denver home since 2014. Dr. Elsila earned her degree in Biology from Stetson University and went on to graduate with honors from the University of Houston College of Optometry. She is dedicated to advancing the field of neuro-optometry through speaking at state and local conferences and educating future optometrists, having mentored over 50-fourth year optometry students as a clinical preceptor.

Dr. Elsila practices full-scope preventative optometry, tailoring care to each patient’s unique visual needs and functional goals. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of binocular vision disorders and visual perceptual difficulties across all age groups. She is passionate about treating children who have learning-related vision challenges, special needs populations, and patients experiencing visual symptoms following traumatic brain injury. Her greatest joy in practice is witnessing the transformation in her patients’ vision and lives through treatment with neuro-functional lenses and vision therapy that restores the eye-brain connection.

Dr. Elsila is a member of the Optometric Vision Development and Rehabilitation Association (OVDRA), which supports clinical excellence in vision therapy and rehabilitation, and the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA), an interdisciplinary organization focused on restoring visual function after brain injuries. She serves on the Mountain State Congress of Optometry (MSCO) committee planning annual continuing education conferences for Colorado optometrists and paraoptometrics. Dr. Elsila serves as a trustee for the Colorado Optometric Association (COA)and is a graduate of the American Optometric Association (AOA) Leadership Institute.

While out of the office she enjoys hiking and traveling with her husband and their two spirited rescue pups, dancing, and gardening.
