Who We Help

Conditions
We Treat

About 10% of people have a vision problem impacting school or work performance. Unfortunately, traditional vision screenings miss at least 50% of vision disorders. If left untreated, conditions will not resolve on their own.

Our vision therapy programs treat children and adults with:

  • Binocular Vision Dysfunctions
  • Convergence Insufficiency
  • Convergence Excess
  • Strabismus (eye turn)
  • Amblyopia (lazy eye)
  • Vertical Heterophoria
  • Double Vision (diplopia)
  • Eye Tracking Problems
  • Eye Focusing Problems
  • Depth Perception Problems
  • Post Traumatic Vision Syndrome
  • Post Concussion Syndrome

Vision
Rehabilitation

Vision issues develop in up to 90% of individuals with a brain injury. We are experts in treating vision problems resulting from neurological injuries including concussion, traumatic brain injury, stroke, viruses, and other neurological conditions.

If untreated, common symptoms can include:

  • Difficulty Reading
  • Light Sensitivity
  • Headaches
  • Blurry Vision
  • Double Vision
  • Fatigue from Visual Tasks
  • Motion Sensitivity
  • Balance Issues
  • Difficulty Working on Screens
  • Trouble Driving
  • Vision Vestibular Issues

Developmental
Optometry

Developmental Optometry (sometimes called Behavioral Optometry or Functional Optometry) focuses on treating eye conditions that are present in early childhood and can result in learning difficulties. Children do not outgrow these vision conditions, and they can worsen as people age or visual demands increase.

If untreated, symptoms can include:

  • Slow reading speed
  • Poor reading comprehension
  • Difficulty with school work
  • Avoidance of reading
  • Easily distracted or tires while reading
  • Leans into print when reading
  • Tilts or lays head down when reading
  • Difficulty with fine motor tasks
  • Reduced ability in sports
  • Blurry or Double vision

Patient Success Stories

Dr. Talaber is patient, kind, and extremely knowledgeable about my vision issues. I was diagnosed with Esotropia as an adult after struggling with double vision. With her help, I was able to get fitted with glasses that permitted me to drive without seeing double. And they weren't super thick lenses that made me feel self-conscious.

I developed double vision after cataract surgery. After just 2 months of vision therapy, I no longer had double vision and was able to stop wearing prism lenses. I am very pleased with the result!

Hi my name is Robert. Vision therapy was fun. It made my eye-tracking better. I am better at reading and writing now. I also have better aim when throwing a ball and frisbee. Dr. Talaber is the best doctor! I had a fun time learning new things to help my eyes.

I will describe my experience at vision therapy with Dr. T as great! I think vision therapy helped my vision in school and while I read at home. Since I came to vision therapy, I notice that I can focus more and haven't seen double vision with my glasses off in a long time. I will just like to thank Dr. T for helping my vision improve.

Vision therapy has impacted my performance a lot! The way it has impacted me is by helping my eye tracking and eye abilities. When I say eye abilities I mean pulling my eyes in and out. It also helped my reading. I am able to read a good book with large or small print. To sum up my writing, vision therapy has helped me get my eyes on track and made it fun!

I recently had cataract surgery with an ophthalmologist recommended by Dr. Talaber. Dr. Talaber fitted me with appropriate lenses to help me see better than ever. I cannot thank Dr. Talaber enough for her patience and expertise in fitting me. For the first time in my life I can see without any issues.
